Citizens of Košice can help people on Haiti

Also in our city we have received with sorrow the news of the devastating earthquake which struck one of the worlds poorest countries - Haiti. Particularly similar situations can bring people together in an effort to help victims and survivors of victims. The City of Košice wants to contribute to mitigate the consequences of this misfortune.
On Sunday, 31st January 2010 at 5.00 pm the concert Open Heart will be held on the occasion of donation of proceeds from the Christmas Charity Punch to facilities in Košice (St. Lucas Highly Specialized Geriatric Institute, OÁZA – Hope for New Life and the Košice Childrens Teaching Hospital) on the premises of the Historical Town Hall on 59 Hlavná Street in Košice. A well-known Slovak music band Fragile and string orchestra Musica Iuvenalis with soloists of the Opera of the State Theatre of Košice will perform at the concert.
The admission fee for this benefit concert for Haiti earthquake victims will be voluntary on the Mayors proposal.
„We believe that the citizens of Košice will open their hearts and accept our invitation to the concert and in this way they will join millions of people worldwide who want to alleviate the pain and suffering of the people of Haiti“ said Mayor of the City of Košice František Knapík.
